Troop 225: An Artfest Reunion
Work from a diverse group of female artist, will be on display at Stuff What I Like, an eclectic grillery, through the month of March.
Stuff What I Like, an eclectic grillery, serves up gourmet burgers and exhibits artwork from local artists each month. March will be a group show at the restaurant; featuring artwork from Troop 225. Each of the five artists in this group show attends the annual art retreat in Port Townsend Washington , known as ArtFest. For the past 10 years, they have stayed in the same dorm reliving the college experience in a cocoon of artistic inspiration. They are commemorating this final year of the event with a group show at Stuff What I Like. Rita Bellanca loves to create art and enjoys dabbling in everything from jewelry to assemblage to digital art to painting. Her love of everything Retro often permeates her work. She is especially fond of old etiquette and Home Economics books as well as old educational films, pin up girls and, well, anything kitschy! This month at S.W.I.L. you can see her colorful and beautiful old movie starlet series and her fun sarcastic series of women’s issues. Currently from the Renton area she travels everywhere with her dog, Zombie. Learn more about Rita Bellanca and her Collage at http://atomicwarbride.blogspot.com/. Lisa Zukowski works both two dimensionally and sculpturally in multiple media. She balances her studio time by teaching Gelatin Printmaking workshops and conducting an annual art holiday in Tuscany , Italy . Zukowski received her degree in painting and printmaking from Brooklyn College , where she served as printer for the Brooklyn College Press. She is a recipient of several awards from local arts organizations, including Orange County Art Federation Artist of the Year in 2006. Lisa’s work has been exhibited in the United States and abroad, and is in several private collections. A small collection of her bird collages are on display as part of this group show. They have a soft mystery to them that makes you wonder what these birds are thinking. A native of Brooklyn , NY , Zukowski currently lives and works in the Hudson Valley of New York. See collage and installation work by Lisa at http://lisazukowski.com/. Jenny Zuko does not consider herself a serious photographer. In fact, she is confused when people ask her to take their picture. That being said, She is always shooting and has the undeniable urge to collect favorite photos in one place to share them with others. She collects photos wherever she goes, mostly with the iPhone. She is emotionally attached to her phone, perhaps obsessed even. She loves the lo-fi quality that it provides, and the fact that it is always on hand. She believes everyone should take more photos. Being able to look back and see where life has taken you is great. The photos on display at S.W.I.L. this month are a small sampling of her work based on her travels and observations. See more of Jenny Zuko’s photos at http://jennypix.com/. Also on display are paintings and photography by Mish McEntire, along with collage work by Cynthia Gaub. Come meet the artists during Everett Gallery Walk on the third Saturday of the Month, this month falling on St. Patrick’s Day March 17th. (So wear green!)
