Current art projects- July 2007

I'm currently working on some art projects that I can't show you because they are for a friend's upcoming book.... its top secret! More details to follow.....

But I'm also working on an ABC chunky for one of my favorite art groups in the whole world- the Bad Babies. I have the letter A. Hmmm... what will I focus on.... agoraphobia? angora sweaters? alligators? astronomy? anatomy? or my personal favorite topic- the ATOMIC age?

I decided to go for Anatomy because I simply couldn't resist it... here's a draft of what I'm doing- not sure if I'm done yet or if I will elaborate on it....

I'm also working on some hot pink and orange atcs. I thought I'd play around with some cool patterned paper but I'm not sure if I'm happy with the results.... I will leave them alone for now and come back to them later...

Meanwhile I'm plotting out my very first altered bra exchange.... hosted by Esti (check out her gorgeous blog!) one of my fellow moderators in the Altered Art Obsession group!
I am fabric-challenged so I am a bit nervous about this one... but its something I've always wanted to tackle! The bras will be auctioned to raise funds for breast cancer research! I will post more info when the time nears. For now, check out these links to past altered bra creations!

I just got my first set of MOO cards and I love them! They are so addicting!!! I wanted some artsy "business" cards and I thought these might do the trick- they are, indeed, pretty darn cool. Since I can't post a lot of my more recent stuff, here are some of my past works that I just turned into MOOs...

Fangoria Convention

For my husband's birthday this year, we splurged on a trip to CA to attend the Fangoria Horror Convention. I'm also a movie geek so this wasn't a great sacrifice on my part. Mix hanging out with fellow film geeks with new movie previews and add a dash of celebrity autographs and you have a couple of happy film fanatics.

My favorite moments:

Talking with sexy Michael Madsen about the need to get drunk in order to sit through director Uwe Boll's Bloodrayne;

Meeting Black Caesar himself,
Fred "The Hammer" Williamson
who was a larger than life character;

Chatting with horror idol Tony Todd who was as classy as they come;

And best of all, meeting Henry Rollins. Yes, I took my life in my hands and made a fool of myself to a beleaguered Rollins who politely refrained from strangling me.

I also enjoyed the blood-soaked previews for both Henry's newest so-bad-its-probably-fun horror flick- Wrong Turn 2 and the wonderfully old-school Hatchet (helmed by uber-enthusiastic Adam Green). I enjoyed the previews despite the fact that I'm even older-school myself- I usually dig horror films from the 1930s-60s, not today's blood fests.

My favorite "session" at the convention was the tribute to the much-maligned but utterly fascinating director Uwe Boll.

He has three films coming out in short order: Postal, a politically incorrect comedy about the Taliban (if you can imagine), Bloodrayne 2 (a sequel to the Michael Madsen gem, this time set in the old west), and Seed. If you are unfamiliar with the jaw-dropping work of Uwe, I highly recommend renting Bloodrayne- for the interview at the end of the disc! Trust me, its a gem. If you don't have the patience to sit through the film (tho' how you could resist Meatloaf's most masterful cameo is beyond me), at least fast forward to the end of the disc to see Uwe expound on those who 'dis' him. Uwe means love.

The Atomic War Bride Speaks!

I have finally joined the rest of you body snatchers in the year 2007 and have created a blog. What shall I do with my blog, you ask? I shall share my latest artwork, delve into deep philosophical discussions about film and television, discuss the finer aspects of animal behavior, and generally spew venom about topics that burn my britches. Enjoy!
