Watched the Richard Lester-directed Three Musketeers and Four Musketeers again this weekend .
Tho' I've seen both of these films at least 10 times, they never cease to thrill. And, as with Dumas' novel, they are full of subtle wit and blatant humor both!
They star the most amazing ensenble cast ever put on film. From Michael York to Faye Dunaway to Charlton Heston to Christopher Lee to Frank Finlay to Richard Chamberlain to Raquel Welch, its a feast for the eyes and ears.
But it's Oliver Reed that always steals the show for me- he IS Athos. His performance in both films is absolutely riveting and wonderfully nuanced. And he was sure easy on the eyes to boot. Sigh. I sure miss that man.
