Here are some photographs I took at Fort Worden in Pt. Townsend WA. I am thinking of making some prints of these or perhaps putting them into a blurb book!

Rat Babies

OK so Tony and I ended up adopting 3 adorable ratties. We wanted 2 but there were 3 left from a litter and we couldn't leave the lone girl behind! She's so cute! So we may get a 4th rat- another girl- to keep her company while we separate the sexes (at least until the boys are old enough to snip-snip. LOL. We don't want any pregnancies.)

Pictured above are Nezumi (F), Sulu (M) and Kato (M).

But meanwhile, there are lots more ratties that need adopting. If anyone wants pet rats (or mice actually- there are some mice in need as well), please go to these sites for more info:

They have foster homes in Canada, Wa and Or.

Rats make great pets!! But you have to be sure that you want these rescues- they deserve forever homes, not to be dumped yet again by someone who can't take care of them.

Latest Art Projects

I recently finished my first "Icicle Doll" ala Belinda Schneider for the AlteredArtObsession group I'm in. I chose to do a Pin Up Girl ala the 1950s.






I used leather-type fabric, red feather boa, fuzzy leapard print, and black mesh materials, plus an old pin up/pulp cover image, and some red gems. It was a lot of fun considering I'm a complete rube when it comes to sewing (I'm fabric-challenged).
















I also finished the covers and my Agoraphobia page for the Phobia Fatbook I was hosting for the BadBabies group.




























And I finished working on the last of the RR journals for the WashingtonAB group!


The theme for this last book was "Birds of a Feather".

Chuck Heston

I am deeply saddened by the passing of the one and only Charlton Heston.

Regardless of how you feel about the political stances he took late in life, there's no denying his brilliance as an actor.

Those far more eloquent than I have written moving exposition on why he will be missed.

But I'd like to toss in a brief 2 cents of my own.

I think my first exposure to Charlton Heston was probably Ben Hur- I remember watching it as a small child with my mother. Chuck was a miraculous combination of every man and every man's ideal. He brought a kind of gutsy realism to his performance that I find hard to capture in words. His performance was riveting.





















Then I saw the Planet of the Apes, a film which still gives me goosebumps to this day. The fact that an actor of his caliber would choose to be in a science fiction film lent a seriousness to the film that lesser actors might not have been able to pull off, especially in 1967!



















His "Taylor" is not exactly likable (as is often the case with Heston's sci-fi characters) but despite his machismo and gruff, disgruntled, sick-of-mankind exterior, he's got enough depth and sensitivity to draw you in completely, until you as an audience member feel inexorably intertwined with his character. His earth-shattering (literally) discovery is your earth-shattering discovery. Gives me goosebumps every time.

I have many other beloved performances that I could mention (Soylent Green, Omega Man, Three Musketeers, Airport 75, Skyjacked, Earthquake, 55 days at Peking, The 10 Commandments, etc). But I will just close with this thought:

Is there an actor alive that can deliver screams of frustration and anger better than Chuck?!

Goodbye Dear Einar

Our beloved and rather feisty rat Einar had to be put to sleep this week. We will miss him so very much.

This last 2 pictures are of him with his charming brother Ragnar, who left us earlier last year. Both of you boys took a piece of my heart with you.
